We are not accepting loan applications yet. Share your details and we will reach out to confirm eligibility and walk you through next steps when we are ready to support your school.

    Borrow free money first.

Before taking any private loan, apply for grants, scholarships, and awards you do not have to repay. Then complete the FAFSA to access federal aid, which may offer income-driven repayment, deferment, and forgiveness options that private loans do not. Use a private education loan only for the gap that remains, and borrow no more than you need.

This is not a loan application.

You are telling us you are interested. Submitting this form is not a request for credit, does not create a loan, and does not affect your credit score. No credit check is run. Nothing is decided here, and you are not committing to borrow anything.

Programs must be at an accredited U.S. institution. Do not see your program? Choose Other and we will follow up.

By submitting, you agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We may contact you by email or phone about your interest.

What to do in the meantime

These steps come before any private loan, and they can reduce or remove the need for one.

    1. 1

      Apply for grants and scholarships

This is money you never repay. Apply through your school, your state, and outside organizations, and keep applying every year you are enrolled.

    2. 2

      File the FAFSA

It is free and it is the gateway to federal grants, work-study, and federal student loans. File it even if you think your family earns too much to qualify.

    3. 3

Accept the federal aid you are offered

Federal loans generally include income-driven repayment, deferment and forbearance options, and eligibility for forgiveness programs that private loans do not provide.

    4. 4

      Then measure what is left

Use our calculators to see the gap that remains after everything above. That gap is the only amount worth considering a private loan for.
